Candice - thanks!! Actually, yes, you do need to buy another lens, but it's not too expensive - usually less than $100. It's a 50mm/1/4 aperture - and it is AWESOME for indoor shots to catch good lighting. If you go to Pioneer Woman where she talks about her lenses, and look at her examples, you can see how she uses the same lens to catch indoor pictures. I think, with kids, it is so nice to have.
Also, that first picture was also brightened and I think had it's contrast adjusted with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 - another thing I just love to pieces.
