Der Snitchity

That Snoochie-Girl of ours has been driving me up the wall lately. She has this bossy little "RUFF" bark that makes me want to give her a good whack every now and then just for good measure. She has been drinking and peeing a lot recently, which means I keep getting "instructed" to refill her water bowl and/or let her out the door and/or let her back in and/or give her some pizza and/or give her some chicken and/or get her toys down and/or throw her little rubber duck for her. Little rat dog. She stares at you with this beady little look, little eyes bright and intent, tail quivering, nostrils quivering. That's her "give me pizza" look. Poor little sassy snooch. She was such a baby dog before there were children, and now she's the dog who needs whacks. Where is the justice in this, she asks? Ah well. Off to rummage in the trash and eat some Q-tips....

My how little patience we have with our pets once the kids come. I trip over our cats constantly, and find myself wanting to launch them through the back yard with my foot.

Well, that's what I actually wanted to say, that I sometimes I want to give Chloe a healthy kick to the rear...but wondered if people would think I was a dog abuser. :) But it's just true - they're just in your way and still just as needy as they ever were, while you have that much less time and energy for them! Tim was saying today that unless you have both pets and young kids it might sound mean, but if you have them both, you can understand, even if you are an animal lover like me! It's still worth it to me to keep her, though; she's a good doggy, and I think it's good for kids to be around animals. But I really wish that she wouldn't require so much vet attention - that is just more bills than we need. Oh well. 'Tis life, I do believe...
